I’ve had a broad range of experience as physician and surgeon of the foot and ankle serving in the United States Air Force, practicing in a multi-specialty medical group and private practice in Arizona. My training was at an Osteopathic hospital in Boston where a developed an interest in a more general or holistic approaches to caring for patients and an interest in alternative, or as it is also known, integrative medicine. I believe that the well-being of patients goes beyond just having painless feet but also includes professional medical treatment that helps patients achieve improved function of their feet and lower extremities by utilizing the latest diagnostic tools and treatment techniques in medical and surgical care, referral to other specialties as needed and effectively communicating with patients’ primary care physicians. It also includes removing the mystery and uncertainty of the healthcare experience by educating my patients about their foot problem and how to achieve and maintain good foot and leg health and optimum function in daily life and in leisure and sports activities.
I have been practicing foot and ankle surgery and podiatric medicine in Arizona since 1986. I received training in traditional oriental medicine and acupuncture, medical acupuncture and obtained a license to practice general acupuncture in Arizona in 2001. I am board certified in foot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery and podiatric medicine and orthopedics by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. In addition, I am certified in acupuncture by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. I’ve distinguished himself as chief of podiatry at two orthopedic clinics in the United States Air Force and received humanitarian awards for service in times of disaster. I received post-graduate training at an Osteopathic hospital in Boston where I developed an interest in integrative medical techniques and did research and published a paper on patients with low back pain and foot types. I therefore understand well the importance of good biomechanical control of the feet with the use of orthotics as well as various physical therapy techniques to improve function of the feet and legs.
Aside from my professional life, in my spare time I enjoy playing piano and playing the saxophone in a big jazz band and writing music and playing in small jazz combo. I have played in local clubs as well as concerts and jazz festivals in England and Europe. I also enjoy swing dancing and bicycling.
